PLF ranked a 2017 "Best Law Firm"
SACRAMENTO, CA; November 1, 2016: For the seventh straight year, Pacific Legal Foundation has been ranked a “Tier 1 Best Law Firm” by U.S. News — Best Lawyers®, the world’s leading survey of lawyers.
The 2017 rankings, based on surveys of thousands of attorneys and clients nationwide, are posted at: http://bestlawfirms.usnews.com. PLF is listed under “Metropolitan Tier 1” rankings, in the “Sacramento” category, for “Eminent Domain and Condemnation Law.”
“Firms included in the 2017 ‘Best Law Firms’ list are recognized for professional excellence with persistently impressive ratings from clients and peers,” reports U.S. News — Best Lawyers®. “Achieving a tiered ranking signals a unique combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal expertise.”
The 2017 rankings are based on input from the highest number of participating firms and highest number of client ballots on record. Over 10,000 attorneys provided more than 800,000 law firm assessments, and over 10,000 clients provided more than 90,000 evaluations.
“Once again, PLF is honored to be recognized for leadership in our signature practice area — the defense of property rights as the liberty that undergirds all other freedoms,” said Jim Burling, PLF’s Director of Litigation. “This ‘Tier 1 Best Law Firm’ ranking is a reflection of the skill and diligence of our attorneys and the dedication and generosity of our thousands of supporters from coast to coast.
“The recognition is particularly appropriate this year, when PLF notched two more wins at the Supreme Court, giving us an unsurpassed record of nine straight victories at the High Court in direct-representation cases for liberty and limited government,” Burling continued. “Our victories this year — in Hawkes and Kent Recycling — benefitted all property owners by establishing that landowners have the right to judicial review if their property is labeled federally protected ‘wetlands.’ This is the kind of cutting-edge legal achievement for which PLF is renowned, and for which the ‘Best Law Firms’ honor is a welcome recognition.”
In addition to ruling for PLF in this year’s two precedent-setting wetlands cases, the Supreme Court also accepted yet another PLF property rights case — Murr v. Wisconsin and St. Croix County — for which oral argument has yet to be scheduled.
“Besides recognizing the work we have already accomplished this year, the ‘Tier 1 Best Law Firm’ designation will help inspire us to more achievements going forward, on behalf of everyone’s constitutional property rights at all levels of the judiciary,” said Burling.
