PLF’s Gaziano to testify on Origination Clause
WASHINGTON, D.C., April 28, 2014: Tomorrow morning, April 29, Todd F. Gaziano of Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF) is scheduled to testify before a U.S. House of Representatives panel on the original meaning of the U.S. Constitution’s Origination Clause (Article I, Section 7), which requires all revenue-raising measures to begin in the House.
Gaziano has just been appointed Executive Director of PLF’s new DC Center, and Senior Fellow in Constitutional Law.
He will testify before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice.
In the case of Sissel v. U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, PLF is currently challenging Obamacare as violating the Origination Clause because it raises taxes but was launched in the Senate, not the House. Oral argument in Sissel is scheduled for the morning of May 8, 2014, at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
In his appearance before the House panel tomorrow, Gaziano will be testifying on behalf of PLF and not of PLF’s client in that case, Matt Sissel.
